European Patent Validation in Italy

A specification of a European Patent shall be translated into Italian and then filed before the Italian PTO, in order to be valid in Italy.

Within three months from the publication of the Mention of Grant of a European Patent, a full translation (all text and claims) shall be filed and the first annuity shall be paid, in order to validate the European Patent in Italy. At present, Italy does not join the London Agreement, reducing or annulling the burden of granted text of the European Patent.
